Guidelines to Follow for Meta Keywords
Meta keywords are really not given any weight by any major search engine today. We do not recommend spending time writing them.
We only write meta keywords for our clients upon request. We are not aware of any recent, reliable data that shows that meta keywords have any effect on a page’s rank on any major search engine. We advise our clients to spend the time and energy working on adding additional pages of content to the site, something that nearly guarantees increasing the number of search referrals received by the site.
If, after reading this, you still want to write meta keywords, then please follow these guidelines:
- Avoid keyword stuffing and repetition.
- Try to use the “category” or “tag” names for a given page in your keywords tag.
- Ensure that all of the keywords you are using are already used elsewhere in the page and in its meta data.
