Using the Rank Checker Extension

The free Rank Checker tool from SEO Book is a Firefox extension that allows you to quickly check your website rankings. As an open source program that is hosted privately on your own computer, you don’t have to worry about another company spying on you or using your data.

The tool displays your keyword rankings in Google, Yahoo and Microsoft Live. By tracking how they change over time you can learn to understand algorithmic trends and know when the relevancy algorithms change. You can adjust the settings to ping the search engines slowly, for example, delay 2 seconds or more between queries, so the search engines won’t block you for data scraping.

The Rank Checker also allows you to upload domain and keywords directly, including a keyword list that matches a domain. You can grab a keyword list to research at any time, helpful in segregating data for varying websites and categories. It allows you to schedule tasks to determine data on your keyword lists daily, weekly, monthly or any other chosen interval.

Data can be exported to .cvs for future comparative reference or to present as a client report. There is also an option to download the history of a keyword list to see how the rankings have changed over a period of time. For graphic view, you can install the Site Rank Reporter add on.
