Using Google’s Valuable Search Insights

Google Insights for Search is a free tool that offers valuable information on keyword trends. You can search the entire web or search for images, news or products worldwide or in specific geographic locations. You can view trends for that past 7 days, the last 30 or 60 days, the last 12 months, or specific years. You can further filter results by choosing categories to search such as Home & Garden, Industries, Lifestyles, etc.

When you enter your search term, it will show a graph to display the interest in the term over the time frame specified. It displays the regional interest for the term allowing you to focus on the top areas of interest geographically. Google Insights also gives you the top ten related search terms and rising searches. For example, when the term “organic gardening” was searched, it showed that the term “organic vegetable gardening” had increased in interest by 170% since 2004.

This is a very cool tool that definitely provides valuable insight into keyword search terms.
