Significance of Google Dance

Periodically, Google robots crawl the web to update and archive websites. It is a process that occurs about every 30 days, sometimes less frequently, with the archived websites presented in the next Google index update. This process is referred to by some as the “Google Dance”.

Google has three primary www servers, one being the main address and the other two thought to be test servers. While the indexing update is being done, a process that requires several days, the three servers will show different results. When the differences are observed, it indicates that the updating, or Google Dance, is in process.

The Google Dance tool from SEO Chat, is free to download and embed into a webpage. By entering in a valid URL, it will return the results from the three Google servers so the Google Dance can be detected when variations appear in the results between the servers.

Though it may be interesting to observe and be informed as to when the robots are crawling to update Google indexes, it likely has little real value for SEO optimization beyond knowing when you can expect to see updates reflected on the Google search engine.
