Features with Google Sites
Google Sites is a webpage creation service launched in February 2008, replacing Google’s Page Creator. Is is a free service that does not require a domain. It allows for collaborative website creation making it useful for team projects, community groups, clubs, families or any other group to share information. There is no limit to the number of pages that can be created.
Google Sites allows for the embedding of documents, photos, calendars, gadgets, presentations and videos directly into the pages. As with Google Docs, there are built-in editing tools for simple text and formatting in a WYSIWYG (what you see, is what you get) manner. Others can be invited to see or edit the content with access levels allowed by the site creator. The site is hosted at http://sites.google.com/[your-website] and can be published, if desired, to allow anyone to view it.
In addition to the website editor, Google Sites offers a selection of templates, 10 MG of storage for each free account, 10 GB if storage for Google Apps users. Limitations include a lack of backup functionality, an inability to export data and limited ability to customize websites.
